About Us
His father was noted American and Canadian critic, author, and professor, E. K. Brown, Chairman of the English Departments at Manitoba, Cornell, and Chicago. Deaver Brown’s grandfathers were entrepreneurs, one in Toronto and the other in Minneapolis.
Brown himself started in product management at Birdseye, moving on with high school friend Alex Goodwin Levitch to cofound Cross River, with the stick folding Umbroller among other products, later sold to Rubbermaid. He then joined APC as a shareholder, board member, and first VP of Sales and Marketing. APC moved from solar inverters to UPSs and back to solar inverters as the category began to prosper. APC was sold to Schneider Electric. He used some of his proceeds to found Simply Media and simplymedia.com.
